Knee Support

Since I got into my fitness kick, I've re-visited my knee issues. My knees started to bother me back in high school when I started track. I used to get a build up of synovial fluid. Then I did soccer and made things worse. Once, I started Grad School I was too busy to do any kind of recreational activities, besides the occasional game of ultimate frisbee. So, my knee problems went away, but now they are back.

For knee support I tried using a knee brace, but it's bulky and cuts off circulation. With the cold weather approaching I'd prefer to run in spandex pants, but the bulkiness gets in the way.

A couple of my friends told me to try  KT tape. In fact one of my friends gave me a few pieces to try. I first saw kinesiology tape during the 2012 Olympics. So if Olympians are wearing it, it must be good right?

I must say my first run with it went pretty well. So, I guess I'll have to invest in this :)

I recommend having a PT apply it to you, but the video is pretty straight forward...

See, fool proof.

Happy running :)

Cheap Easy Nerdy Halloween Couples Costume: Pumpkin Pie

My boyfriend and I were contemplating on what we were going to do for Halloween this year. He is not very enthusiastic about costumes, so I had to go with something minimal. We originally planned on doing "Where's Waldo" and "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego," but decided against that.

Then, we thought about Lori and Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead. Real simple. We were just going to get T-shirts and print on them "Where's Carl?" and "Carl Get in the House!" but I wanted something a little more involved.

We finally decided on pumpkin pie (pi). It has a hint of nerdiness to it and I get to go all out on my costume while my bf can just wear a tshirt. Here are some examples that I found on the internet...

Once it was decided, I headed straight to the craft store. For under 10 dollars I bought an orange T shirt  a white T shirt  face paint, and ivy.  My boyfriend's costume was easy, we just drew the pi symbol on it with a black sharpie. He doesn't like his picture taken, so I am sorry there is no picture for it.

Next, I made my costume. I decided to alter my T shirt to give myself a rounder more pumpkin shape.

First, I started sewing lines up the shirt

Then, I pulled the thread to bunch up the shrit

I did the same to the back and sleeves

Next, I added a Jack O Lantern face

I finally pinned some ivy into my hair and did my makeup.

Happy Halloween :)

The Products of a Rainy Day

I realized I've been a jerk and haven't been posting as much as I wanted to, so here's a quick post!

I just got home from work and it is pouring outside. Like flash flood pouring...

OK maybe I am exaggerating just a bit, but it was really raining and I was doomed to spend my Friday night inside.

So I decided to make myself a cup of coffee and start painting some note cards. My family loves my note cards and I decided since it's Autumn I will do a Fall-theme.

As you noticed in the image I progressed from coffee to beer. I was just trying so desperately to stay awake!

Anyways, the products of my rainy day are these note cards below, and they can be purchased on my Etsy page.

Such a simple, pretty gift or easy way to make a few extra dollars!

Happy Crafting :)
